Hillandale Caravan Parks is proud to announce the installation of defibrillators at all seven of our parks to help safeguard the welfare of our customers, staff and visitors in the event of a cardiac arrest.
The British Heart Foundation describes a defibrillator as ‘a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest’. Defibrillation is the name that is given to this shock and is an essential part in saving a life.
The scientific evidence to support early defibrillation is overwhelming; the delay from collapse to delivery of the first shock is the single most important factor of survival. If defibrillation is delivered promptly then survival rates can be as high as 75%. The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of about 10% with each minute of delay.
Any member of the public can use a defibrillator. No training is required as the defibrillator gives simple verbal and visual commands which guide the user through the steps that need to be taken and it will not allow shocks to be given unnecessarily.
Defibrillators have been proven to be an invaluable lifesaving tool – we hope they will never be required on our parks but we are prepared if necessary!!
